new special ranger pet
we got a fire dmg dealer ranger pet now, i was first thinking about water, earth and lightning dmg dealers after that, but what about a new one:
a ranger pet dealing holy dmg
the game wont be as busy soon anymore (meaning that they wont do much big like this with GW until they got GW2 going real good), but even then i doubt this would hurt the game when fighting undeads
i'd like to see all elements, but holy dmg is 1, so it could be done easier and sooner
and it'd be fun to have a holy ranger pet, dont you think?
holy = after all, pure goodness, and we are heroes of GW (not the npc heroes, lol)
i'm NOT asking for this just cuz we have a fire dmg dealing pet, i just got inspired by this and would like to see this
pets mostly are useless in pve anyway, especially when using 1 char with a pet, and so a very little more useful one wouldnt hurt, and it should be a good pet (holy eh )
i dont expect anything like this anytime soon, but they never said they wont give us new things in GW after GW2 is released for real, so i made this suggestion for those days when they can give GW back some live team people, once they got everything in GW2 under control
please no DOOM posts like "GW is going to die, deal with it"
now that i mentioned pets not being useful, heroes use them real bad i've seen with my own team (not full pet team, as i dont wanna risk skills disabled for everyone), so game breaking is not possible with this, and i think its fun AND special
maybe they shouldnt make other elemental dmg dealing pets, just to keep the hounds special as elemental pet.... but thats up to them, and thats NOT my suggestion in this case
also: please explain why not, and in case people will say it'd be game breaking, plaz explain how it would be
sry, i just wanna avoid copy-paste posts from so many threads already
so, anyone liking this idea of mine? (its for fun, not to make the game bigger and much better, although fun would make it better already)

So long as it's imaginative and *not* the armor-ignoring damage version of holy damage, I see no reason why not so long as it makes sense.
But what kind of pet would it be? What kind of pet would deal holy damage when a pet modeled after a god deals fire? Model it after Dwayna? That'd be Lightning damage, wouldn't it? Grenth would be cold or dark, Lyssa be chaos, Melandru earth... So... Kormir then?
Alright, pets linked to Kormir... Can't think of anything.
Balthazar, since day one, has been linked to hounds and griffins in GW, so it'd make sense to use a pet that's been connected to a god already and other than plants/stalkers with Melandru, and indirectly spiders with Grenth... that's fairly non-existent (and the indirect spider for Grenth is only cuz Black Widows are apparently native to the Underworld).
If you go a different route, well... I don't see it making much sense in lore, as what kind of creature would deal holy damage, but it's a fantasy game. And if it went with the other elements... same scenario - unless it's linked to a god (and Balthazar was the only god linked to a specific animal other than Melander and the Melandru's Stalker), it doesn't really seem like something that'd be a pet, but rather a creature. And besides, the only pet I say we need in this game after all we got is just one:
Rabbits.
Just to make the Bunny Thumper build more serious.

Meh, pets are useless 90% of the time. Why bother working on something like that when AI is still RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed? Besides, I want my pets to trigger barbs/MoP in PvE and in PvP, they're always going to be the mediocre choice for a ranger.

Honestly, I would never use a different pet on my ranger to the black widow that I have now. But if other people would use it, then yeah, why not? But as Konig said, it should be something realistic, linked to Kormir, maybe? I would be interested to see what kind of pet that Anet would introduce that deals holy damage!

Pets are melee attackers.
You can bring a fiery, icy, ebon or shocking upgrade for martial weapons.
Pets should not have armor-respecting holy, chaos or dark damage, unless martial weapons get modifiers for those damages too.
And those damages should not become modifiers unless they were categorized with a generic kind (e.g.: magical or arcane damage) and some skills and insignia were able to increase armors vs all of them or one of them in particular.
Otherwise people would stick to them to bypass all skills and insignia that defend vs elemental or vs physical, and people will stop using those and stick to those that increase generic armor.

of course its not armor ignore, holy dmg staves dont have that either
also, its for fun, to have something new and special, just like the dog we just got
and i said i dont expect it anytime soon, so we'll have to wait
i do agree we need a ranger pet rabbit, cuz thats an ancient and very much wanted suggestion by now
anyway, this holy dmg would only count as the one from staves, so no armor ignoring, even though that wouldnt make GW unbalanced, as long as its only pve (oh yea, pvp is dead i heard)
but making it the same as staves is kinda fair, and it would only affect the undead enemies a bit
a bit, as pets dont do much in pve and just being a bit stronger at undeads wont change that fact (see alesia wanding enemies), as the undeads arent really strong even in HM (even compared to WiK and WoC enemy groups on NM)
